Lets Burn Mumbai !

Ha Papa Bear has spoken. What a long wait it was oh Emperor of the Hindu hearts, papa we missed you so.

Thackeray who recently celebrated his 80th birthday, made an emotional appeal to the Marathis saying there was a conspiracy to separate Mumbai from Maharashtra and it would not be "tolerated".

"The city will burn if it is taken away from Maharashtra," Thackeray said.

"Let them even try to separate Mumbai from Maharashtra and we will give them a fitting reply. One hundred and five martyrs, mostly mill workers, had sacrificed their lives for the cause of Maharashtra with Mumbai and we will not let it go to waste," he added.

Asking Hindus to break linguistic barriers and unite, Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray said his dream was to feel a "Hindustan of Hindus" that would bring "Islam in this country down to its knees".

Addressing a massive rally at Shiv Sena stronghold Shivaji Park, Thackeray said "it is my dream that we would create a Hindustan of the Hindus. Maharashtrians or Punjabis alone cannot fight against Islam. That is why, I appeal to all Hindus to break the linguistic wall around them and come together so that we can bring Islam in this country down to its knees."

So Papa Bear, lets get to burning this Mumbai thingy down shoulder to shoulder with all those surviving mill workers *who the stingy-pig eating- Afzal loving- Sickle carrying commies allege you had sold out again and again to mill owners while you were the trade union Sarkar* . Lets drive all those Biharis, Gujjus, Madrasis and coconut selling Malayalis out of Brihanmumbai. Shall we use electoral rolls this time like Modi uncle did ?
Let me tell you that is not as comprehensive as the marwadis think, why cant this godforsaken non-marathis circumcise ? Neways, lets drive them out, one by one.

After that Papa Bear, we'll fight the Muslims. We'll throw them into Arabian sea, let them drown or swim to Mecca, Dubai or Madina. Christians we'll ship them back to Italy, along with Maino. HOLD ON !!!! Did you say break the linguistic wall and fight Islam ? What about the first plan then ? Here I'm confused Papa Bear, I wouldn't dare say you are aging. But I'm confused - its like the whole plan is lost in translation.

P.S : Don't worry Papa Bear, all opinion polls say we'll win Brihanmumbai. These morons will vote for us. If they don't we'll burn Mumbai.Either ways, next week they'll again squat near the Gateway and go gua gua gua about the spirit of Bombay. These morons.

Add to that, he said Afzal's petition isn't yet been cancelled by Kalam cos - either his growing hair blinds his vision or he sees some stars and green in front of his own eyes.

I don't know if this guy is acting it up for political gain or if he actually beleives in his fanatism. If its the first, we still have hopes. If its the second, Hare Krishna Hare Rama.

Which India and Hindustan is he talking about. He had (and still has) a prblm with all the Gujjus, Panjus and Mallus who had invaded the Marathi space and made Mumbai the city it now is. When he realised that card isn't strong enuf to secure the future of his dumb son, he plays the Muslim card.

Yet, we have to admit one thing :-

Pandan naayude pallinu souryam
Pande pole phalikkunnilla
Pandivan oru kadiyaloru puliye
Kandichathu njan kandariyunnu

Good one, milord.

Nina, that he said both these things in the same speech means just one thing - he's old and weak *as you put it*

Given the damage he's done to Mumbai as such, especially the working class and its social fabric. Its hard to believe that such a fanatic can speak out such things in India's Newyork and no one protests in Mumbai 'cause they are afraid of his 50 NP sainiks. This must go. btw, chk this out

why protest yaar.. the whole point is.. i think there must be a stage when he is considered the insgnificant mad man who says these things time and again, but then you dont react so that he does not turn violent.
we have work to do yaar... he does not matter!
hope thats why there are no protests. and hopefully mumbai will keep its youth busy with employement that they will not have the time to create a gujarat. donnno if he has the power beyond his speeches.

Tsk tsk bvn. Not even allowing a senile old man his last shot at grabbing news headlines.

BD,few things here, you would be knowing these better than me.
"insgnificant mad man who says these things time and again," - how many times has this guy brought the city to its knees since 1960s. what can you say of such a city - which other indi an city has a 'sarkar' :).how can you call such a city a cosmo, i think its a medieval feudal city with colonial drops like him around every corner.

"hopefully mumbai will keep its youth busy with employement" - mumbai as you know has an unemployed rate very higher than the national average.this leaves around 10 lakh unemployed youth any given day in mumbai, waiting to explode - once again.

"donnno if he has the power beyond his speeches." - he rules BMC. then lets see the results, hope mumbaikars will have some sense within the 'spirit'.

"why protest" - he gets primetime telivision, kids watch TV. I was a big fan of him when i was a kid - thats why.

yes not many cities can boast of a sarcar, but neither do i beleive that many a city could have afforded one in any case!
bvn, inspite of this sarcar making all the required tactics on television,on stages against, non marathis, ppl from all over the country have flocked to mumbai! what does that say about his effect. Yes he has brought the city to its knees many a times from 1960, but tell me when was the last time that mumbai chose to shut itself due to a religious riot? and how long do you think any protest can last in mumbai, the spirit is in getting back to work and thats what the mumbaikar is known for. when saddaam was killed, we saw a protest in kerala, even a bandh! what use are these protests? for creating awareness? what do you think media did time and again by putting the scene of his killing over and again? today, protests has to be from an intelligent media... or against the non creative media which does not discriminate btw whats to be shown and what not!

sachin, Papa Bear is not old, he's just semi-retire-retard-ed.

BD, what about these tens of thousands of indians who flock to Saudi Arabia every year, same reason they flock to Mumbai. Affording a sarkar ? i can afford a viper - but thanks. which other indian city *except indian capitalism's mecca - Ahmedabad* has seen so many riots as mumbai, which is as segregated as mumbai. About protesting, when did 'mumbaikar' protest last, did mumbai protest against BMC after the floods ? 'mumbaikar' goes back to work because there is nothing else the city dweller is capable of. let me not elaborate on kerala, but the awareness is such that in a state with 45% minorities, there was one riot in the whole of last decade.does the 'mumbaikar' know the name of his councillor, MLA, MP - his neighbour ? so guess there is nothing called 'mumbaikar', some people rushing here and there and not belonging to anywhere - and afraid of Shiv Sainiks :)))

right now this is election time...he is saying all this for votes... shame that such kind of vote-seeking is still allowed in india...will the election commission do anything...i doubt it...everyone says he is a dying man and so let him be. his parochial outburst doesnt find takers but as for his communalist leanings...it continues to be dangerous. even a 100 of his men are enuf to stoke up trouble.

i have a mallu bombayite friend here who said his cousin took part in the 93 riots with shiv sainiks for vendetta...i had only one question to ask him. is this cousin educated and he said..."yeah he was in college then". thackeray is a really prominent face of the indian psyche, maybe not the most recognizable...bjp, shiv sena, muslim league, kerala congress, etc, etc are all creations of the upper crust of society and continue to be nurtured also by these same ppl.

every progressive country is shedding religious identities...i just cant understand why it continues to remain so strong in india...i wont blame poverty...rich people and the middle class are the worst culprits!

bvn, on a side note ever noticed the message boards on rediff...every article there under discussion ends up getting tangled in hindu-muslim, north-south, resident-nri free-for all abusing sessions!

So the shivsainiks are winning in mumbai!!!bad enuf!
agree that kerala has not seen its share of riots, but i still respect mumbai for providing a lot of people with food/employment. to me the most important word is survival- and thats what mumbai helps a lot of people do - to survive.. .so that they can return to kerala later and lead a peaceful life

Mathew, imagine bangalore after those 'namma kannada' bigots gets organized. yup, let sense prevail.

BD, I completely agree here. Sena will have to tone down and finally disappear - this is inevitable - because bombay is very important and will move forward.

Jiby, very similar thoughts, fully agree.

But lemme add something, why is this bigot allowed to speak like this and get away with it. There should be zero tolerance - its not some village market man, its India's greatest metropolis.

About, the messageboards - i get pissed off big time man. I don't read the f^&*ing comments these days. I wonder whos got time for all this comment counter comment stuff and the level to which they go down is gross.

Nina, but i heard the post had some impact in Colaba and Borivli :)))
